Public Meetings

We are undertaking support work such as a Macular Degeneration NZ seminar in New Plymouth on the 27th November 2020. The atmosphere from the 100 plus attendees at this event was palpable as they realised they all had a common issue; the buzz was electric as they waited for the formal proceedings to begin.

As you may be able to see in the photos, we have a table set up with items we have found useful for ourselves and that others have told us about. At the completion of the speaker’s presentation,we were able to share these display items with almost everyone.

Lots of people have a preconceived notion of what they can or can’t do with diminishing sight and are often surprised at the simple solutions we offer. An example of this someone who was concerned she was always spilling boiling water on the bench when making a cup of tea. The solution for this is to place the cup in the sink so any spillage goesdown the drain.

We get as much satisfaction from providing the solutions as those receiving them.
